20150926_113059_resized 20150926_113104_resizedI just finished up with a three day trip here on Falcon with Doug and Justin. We had a great time and caught quite a few fish as well. The weather got us a little today as I do not like the lightning . Falcon is alive and well and is loaded with fish and the future really looks good if we can hold this water. I am off to Abilene in the morning and I hope I can finish up with the remodels this trip. I have trips starting on Sugar come Oct 12th. I have had a few days come open in Oct I need to fill, so if you want to go get in touch with me. I have Oct 19,20,21,22, 23 open. Being on Falcon for the last 5 days has been fun and I have got to fish from one end to the other , so I have figured a few things out so Falcon or Sugar I will be ready for either one.

I found something on Falcon I have not seen since 1993, Hydrilla. Yes Hydrilla. Let me tell you the fish were loaded up in it as well. If this is a start of what we had in 1993 this lake will be so great . I can still remember in 1993 catching over 100 per day and big ones. I had Doug and Justin again today and today we fished the brush more today than yesterday and caught a lot more fish as well. I still can not get them to use a bait caster with heavy line and heavy rod. they are doing fine on the 2 and 3 pounders , but Doug has lost a few big fish. I fished them all over the lake today as I wanted to see if I could find some more grass. I will be back on the water with them for their last day and I hope I can get some pictures of them instead of me.

20150924_073335_resized 20150924_073347_resized 20150924_082321_resized 20150924_082326_resizedTook out Doug and Justin today here on Falcon. We were to be on Sugar , but with my boat trouble and no passport for Justin we decided to stay here and fish Falcon these three days. Justin got off to a great start going up 7 to 0 on his dad and also catching his personal best , one that pushed 4 pounds. Doug started making a comeback later in the day and I lost count but they both caught a bunch of fish. The one thing about Falcon , you are going to catch a lot of fish. the size is not where I want it to be , but it will get there. Justin did loose a nice 6 to 7 pound fish right at the boat that would have been a better personal best and Doug also lost a big fish today. I have these two for two more days , so we are going to up the big fish stats. I have beefed up their equipment and this should help landing a bigger fish when they get one on.

Jay went with me and fished J D and Neal. I had boat  trouble in the  tournament here on Falcon this past Sat , so I knew that I could just Idle around on sugar and have to stay within site of the ramp. That is all I did. It did not mater as we just hammered the fish and caught some really big ones as well as over 150 in a day and a half. In fact Mike , Gary and I caught 60 today and we were off the water at 10 am as I had to get back to get my boat fixed for the next 5 days of guiding. The big news on this trip was Mike had a trip of a lifetime catching a 10 lb 2 oz the first day and today catching his lifetime personal best a 11 lb 7 oz beast.  Mike has fished with me for years and has caught 15 over ten pounds with me here on Falcon, but never had caught one over 11. Well that hump is over and now he wants a 12. Mike plans on getting a replica of boat fish mounted together as a table mount and I do not blame him as these two fish were so pretty and fat.

Well the tournament is over and I am beat. Kenneth and I did not get off to a good start the first day, as we had boat trouble and had to come back to the ramp after a couple of hours , to change over to another boat and that cost us some time. When we finally got back on the water it was to late to go where we had laid out a plan to be . So we cut our areas down. To make things a little tougher on us . I had not been on Falcon for months, as I am doing almost all my guiding on Sugar. Today with a good boat we ran our plan without a hitch . We started out way South and worked our way back north all day. The fumbles we had yesterday hurt us as we came back with the biggest stringer today and big fish for the day and ended up in second place. The leaders just had to much on us to make it up. But all said I had a great time and Kenneth was a great guy to fish with. I am headed to Sugar in the morning so I will let you know how it goes.

Just spent the last three days with Robert and Kathleen on Sugar Lake. They have been fishing with me now for 7 years and this was their second time to go to Sugar. Last year it was so windy that we just about could not fish. This year the weather was great and it paid off for us. I was happy with the number of fish that we caught as we boated over 200 on this three days trip. The big fish were tough to come by , but as you can see Kathleen had several. If Robert and I would have helped here in the big fish department , it would have been better. The main thing is we all had a blast and the food down there is just great. I have a little tournament on Falcon Sat and Sun and will return to Sugar come Monday. Jay will be helping me Monday and Tuesday on Sugar as I have a group coming in. It is going to be fun. You need to come down and get you some .

It sure is good to be back in Zapata. It seems like it has been forever to get back to this great place. I have worked and have got the estate back in Abilene in pretty good shape. I still have some work to do but the most of it is done. I will spend the day getting my boat ready for my trips to Sugar lake. I start on Sugar Wed and will fish it thru Friday. A good friend of mine has talked me into fishing a tournament here on Falcon Sat and Sunday. He knows I have only been on Falcon three days since the end of April, so I will be winging it , that is for sure. With me being on Sugar till late Friday I will not even get to fish the two practice days. One thing for sure , I will have fun as I love the competition of fishing tournaments . I can not wait to get on Sugar come Wed as it is still brim full , but it is not running over and has seemed to settle out . Robert and Kathleen came last year and caught two of the windiest days that I had on Sugar last year. It was just about impossible to fish. This year they are here later and the weather and wind looks great. I look forward to having a great post , so be sure to tune in . I will take my computer with me as Sugar Inn has service now . So I am going to try to post every day.

20150829_093722_resized 20150829_120059_resized 20150831_110059_resized 20150831_110118_resizedWell today is opening day of dove season and for the first time in two years I am going to go this afternoon and shoot a few. This trip up here to Abilene has not just been all work. Sheretta and I went to Ruidoso with my sister Carrie and her husband David to do a little golf and gaming. If you have been following my post you know I have been working hard on this estate. I had a great helper , but he shocked me and was stealing from me behind my back. It all caught up with him as he will be spending some time in jail. I have managed to finish one house so far. Work goes a little slower when you are doing it all by yourself. I only have two more to finish and I will have all the big remodels done. I have saved the best for last as these two are a complete disaster . I might need some help on these . Once I have these two finished I will be free to do a lot more fishing , and I am really looking forward to it as Falcon and Sugar are starting to fish great. I am full with trips for Sept , but I have a few open dates for Oct. So if you want to go , get in touch with me , I will be ready.
