I am at my other job in Abilene, but just wanted to do a recap on my trips the last week on Falcon. Falcon as you know is fishing tough as nails right now, due to the rising water, cool wet weather and other post span transition periods that are going on. I had to cover and fish all types of water just to catch a few good ones each day. There is no problem catching a butt load of fish the problem is trying to locate the bigger bite. These pictures are just some of the fish that you come to Falcon for. My last three or four days I fished mostly deeper for that better fish . There again covering loads of water as I do not feel the fish are set anywhere in numbers yet , they are still just roaming around looking for that summer home . I did get a little better on the quality bit when we started getting some hot weather. I will be back to fishing come the 12th and all my trips are on Sugar . I can not wait because I expect the fish to be out down there and plan on getting them deep. As you know Bass Champs is in the books and by the looks of it , it was very tough on them. They had a great weather day to fish, and 23 pounds for 5 won. I think this is probably the lowest winning weight in the history in a Bass Champs tournament on Falcon. I really want to thank the guys that gave me the chance to fish with them this last week or so.

Saturday, April 25th, 2015Out with Kevin and Sam today. Today was Bass Champs tournament so we knew the lake was going to be busy. Other than a spot or two , we were able to get on some spots I wanted to fish. We had one heck of a day on numbers , boating 31 fish today. The only problem with this we did not have a single fish out of 31 over 3 pounds. Now we finally had our chance today around 2 pm I pulled up on a hump and Sam got a big girls on that was ripping drag and just came off. Two cast later he sets the hook on another and pulls a 5 pounder to the surface and she comes off. this was just a start of our missed opportunities . The next place we hit Sam looses another fish in the 4 to 5 pound range on the crank bait at the boat. Kevin decides to pick up a crank and bam fish on and he loses a 4 pounder at the boat. A few cast later he gets another good fish on and all the sudden she comes off and all he has left is the bill part of his crank on his line . this fish , another quality fish jumped around trying to free the other part of the crank. We were just snake bit at this point, well they were as I was just sitting in the boat and watching what was going on. These two guys were good fisherman and great to be out in the boat with. No big string for us , but plenty of action. I leave for Abilene in the morning to my other job, I will still keep in touch and report what I find out. I am looking forward to May as I have all my trips on Sugar starting the 12th . I still have some days open in June so if you want to catch some big fish on sugar or Falcon this is the month to come.

Took out Allen and Gary today. With the forecast of stiff South winds today I drove and put in at the State Park. We did have a window of calm this morning and we took advantage of it. We were on fish from yesterday’s knowledge. We caught them pretty good , but once the wind got up it was over for us as we lost our bite. Gary broke a giant off at the boat and Allen did not get a big one today. I will be at it again tomorrow and with Bass Champs in town it is going to be fun. Looks like I will be on the water early tomorrow. We fished till 2 pm today and loaded it up as the had a long drive ahead of them and really did not want to fight the wind.

Out with Andrew today for his last day of six and man did he go out with a bang. We hammered the fish today and had a really good stringer helped by Andrew’s 8 lb 1 oz kicker. I am not going to say much, because of Bass champs , but I will say we did not flip today. We boated 35 fish today and Andrew had most of them because when I found them I did not fish much. It is just amazing what heat will do to this lake. These fish have not seen the sun much this month and when they did they reacted big time. I will be at it again tomorrow, Hope it is hot.

Out with Andrew for his fifth day with me. Today was the best weather day finally after about 1 pm . The only problem with today was that we had a slow go at it this morning before it started to warm up and the fish started to react to the warm up and I had boat trouble. Truck broke down Friday and Boat today. I would have liked to stay out later today as it finally really go nice, go figure. The good news I called Zapata Marine and they told me to bring the boat by. We found the problem right away and they stayed and got me fixed , knowing my situation about needing to be back on the water tomorrow. This will be Andrew’s last day to fish with me and we will be busing our butts trying to get some big fish. We have caught plenty of fish , today we want some big girls. Thanks again to Zapata Marine for the quick fix . If you need boat service , try these guys out . they have a great service man.

Tuesday, April 21st, 2015Out with Andrew again today. Today I picked him up at the State Park and we fished the South end today. We caught plenty of fish the problem was they were all under 4 pounds. This was the first time I had fished the very south end of the lake this year. Out tails will be back north tomorrow , as the quality for me is just better. I just can not understand these weather forecaster, they have not got the weather prediction right in 3 months , not one time. I can see them missing it 50% of the time but not 100%. Todays forecast 8 to 12 MPH South winds and a high of 81 . todays weather west northwest winds about 5 mph and high 73 and no sun. Like said we will be back mid lake to north tomorrow , so I will let you know how we do. Just a note I am Full for the month of May . June my best month has several spots open and July I only have 6 days left open. So if you are planning a trip let me know.

Out with Andrew again today. Today was a little cool and a stiff north wind. I told Andrew we were fishing an area that I thought if we got 10 bites and put them in the boat we would do well. My second flip of the day I lost a big fish that just flat out destroyed 20 lb floro. A few min later I hit another good fish and landed her. I got Andrew to pick up a spinner bait and soon he was on the board as well. Today was a tough day to get a bite but when we did it was good quality. We lost 4 really nice fish today and Andrew lost one that he will think about for a while. I told him as we loaded up that we turned a great day into a slow day, but when you are deep in the stuff , these big fish do not play fair. I want to say grats to Luis and his son for doing well in the Mexican tournament , they caught a ton of fish just did not get that kicker needed each day to win. They had about 27 lbs for 2 days . Andrew and I will fish South tomorrow.

Monday, April 20th, 2015I was out with Robert and Blake getting them ready for Bass Champs. I had a lot to show them and caught a nice day to run the lake. We caught fish everywhere we went today as I was on a pattern that was producing. Robert lost an absolute monster of a fish today. This fish is the kind of kicker everyone wants to go with 4 more 4 to 5 pounders. I think there will be a lot of 16 to 20 pound bags caught in this tournament and the one with the big kicker will be at the top of the leader board. I think somewhere around a 30 pound bag will do the trick for this tournament . The fish are all over the chart as we have had not much sun and cool days all this week and next week looks the same to me so I do not think the fish will move to much from where they are at right now. There was a big Mexican tournament this weekend and I checked with Carlos the guy that puts it on. they had 45 boats and it took 45 lbs to win the two day event with 10 fish. I will have more details about this tournament in a day or so. I am back out with Andrew for the next four days and we have north winds and a cool day Monday. I will let you know how we do. Also just a reminder to all the clients that are booked with me to Brazil in Jan for the peacock bass trip. Deposits are due by the end of the month. Also I have a third boat chartered and some spots left if you want to go.

Out with Andrew again today. It was predicted to be light winds and warm today . Instead we got a stiff north wind and for the most of the day it was cool. Andrew and I set a goal today to catch 20 fish by 4 pm. To do that we had to fish pretty clean and not loose as many fish as we did yesterday. Andrew got us off to a great start catching a real solid fish on his first flip. Our first spot we boated 11 and only lost 4 . better than yesterday landing odds. We caught 21 fish today one over our goal and we only lost 7 or 8 fish today. Most of the fish we caught were pretty good quality like the smaller one Andrew is pictured with I had one about 4.5 not pictured and were had 3 or 4 more in the 4 pound range as well. Not a big stringer today but pretty close to 20 pounds. Andrew will take tomorrow off as I have some Bass Champs guys and he will fish again with me Monday thru Thursday.

Took out Andrew today for the first day of 6 days he will fish with me here on Falcon. I day did not start out very good. Andrew flew in from Alaska , he got here fine after 10 hours of delay , but his gear and luggage did not make it. No problem , he use my stuff today. He is staying at the state park so I told him I would pick him up down there. I got there and backed down the ramp to unload and my truck died. Could not get it started and I was stuck flat in the middle of the ramp. With no power I slid my boat in the water using the emergency brake , that was fun , let me tell you I thought that when I took it out of park , it was not going to stop, but luckily it did. Next problem finding someone that had a chain to pull me up the ramp to the parking lot. I want to thank a fellow fisherman that did that for me. Well finally me and Andrew got in the boat and headed fishing. We were on fish right away and Andrew had practiced his flipping skills from last year and was putting some nice fish in the boat. We boated 8 fish and had a run to where we had 7 fish on and only landed 1 of them , go figure , with the way the day started. We called it a day early as I had to get back to take care of my Truck. I had a wrecker come out and take my Truck to the Ford house and A friend of mine came and took my trailer back to the county some I could drive back to the county to load. To top the day off the Ford dealer said they were so busy that they could not even look at my Truck till Monday or so. Jay had saved my butt on that as I will use his truck for a few days . Thanks to Jay and Rodger and the guy, at the state park ramp, that helped me today.
