Bass champs is in the books. Man the weights were really down. They caught one of the warmest days and light winds after lunch we have had in Feb. I really thought they would whack the fish. I want to congratulate the winning team of Richards and McHardy for their winning catch and big fish of the tournament . I also want to say good job to two of my teams that I had the pleasure of taking out for getting a check. Good job guys. I am off today and I am going to play a little golf with some friends today. I have also canceled Monday and Tuesday due to weather . I have to leave Tuesday to go to my other job in Abilene and I will be back on the water March 7th with some regular clients of mine. I hope that when I get back I can get the deeper bite going as this shallow bite is a lot of work and so unpredictable. These fish have been all over the place and nothing is staying the same from day to day. I for one am ready for some consistency . March is the month I also start my Sugar Lake guiding trips and some of my regulars are starting to book in May and June . With my new schedule I have very limited time left. I am Full in March I have just 3 day left in April & 7 days left in May and Junes is a little better. But what I am saying if you want to come you need to book.

Saturday, February 21st, 2015Sorry about the late post, but it was on purpose. I did fish yesterday. I had Allan and his wife Nancy. I had called him and told him it was going to be windy, but he was game anyway. Allan is one of my regulars and comes to Falcon to fish with me 4 or 5 times a year. He brings Nancy some of the time. Did we catch fish, yes we did, but nothing but dinks. The spinner bait bite was off yesterday for me and the flipping in the wind for them was very tough. I did not post last night because , I have four teams in the Bass Champs Tournament and I did not want them to read my post and be confused on to what is going on. The pattern has not changed much , I just had a bad day, simple as that. It is going to be interesting at weigh in today as it is going to be warm for the third day and this is the day the fish should really turn on. I am off today and Sunday and I will be back on the water come Monday if the weather holds out.

Thursday, February 19th, 2015Took out my good friends Mark and Charlie . They are my Peacock Fishing buddies. Mark is the caption of our Brazil boat and is pictured with his first Black Bass he has every caught or seen. I would have liked a little calmer day for Mark to learn how to bass fish. Now he has caught bass before , but just Peacocks. He loved it and already wants to come back. We boated only about 10 fish today , but we did get Mark a fish and that made the trip worth it.

Took out Bill and Dan after a day off yesterday. It was cold this morning and we had lost 9 degrees water temp from two days ago when I had them on fish and the north wind blew us off the lake. We had a very slow morning , but we had a good after lunch when things started heating up. Man I think it is really going to be good these next few days as we are getting some warm weather. I do not know who Lumpy and Gunner is but every time Bill or Dan would catch a fish they would look up and say Lumpy and Gunner we sure do miss you. We ended up with 23 fish today and everyone caught a nice one as well. I have my Peacock Bass fishing buddies coming to fish with me tomorrow . Charlie and Mark, I hope to get them into some quality fish tomorrow.

Monday, February 16th, 2015I took out Rodger and Dan today. I knew it was going to get nasty, but we beat it down the lake to try and get some fishing in before it hit. We did and were able to boat 13 fish before we got off the water . Both Dan and Rodger had a big fish on and did not win the battle. We are going to skip tomorrow and wait to get back on the water Wed. See you then.

Sunday, February 15th, 2015Well I had Robert and partner ( sorry I forgot his name) today. I finally finished up with my last Bass champs guys. I had four teams this year and I have them spread out from one end to the other. We did catch some fish however today. In fact we caught a 25 lb stringer in about thirty min. I lost one heck of a fish during that flurry that would have bumped that stringer way up. They made a plan real early this morning , so we spent the rest of the day checking and fishing water I have not been in yet and we caught some more but did not help our stringer much , maybe a pound or two. I wish All four of the teams that used me this last week or so good luck and hope they all get a check. I will be back on the water tomorrow , so hope to have some pictures up then.

Back out with Ted and Roland today. I had told them after yesterday , that they would do better today, because they had got a lot better at flipping and setting the hook late yesterday. Well they just smoked the big fish today. We only caught about 20 fish today, but damn the quality was way up there. I got dialed in on the pattern for a big bite yesterday so we moved around all over the lake and It really paid of for us in a big way. Ted blew his personal best away today with a 10 lb 2 oz monster of a fish. He got here flipping as well. We also stopped in on a spinner bait place on the way back to the ramp and They just hammered them for about 30 min at quitting time. I really enjoyed this trip as it started out a learning trip the first day and just really good execution on their part the second day.

Friday, February 13th, 2015Took out Ted and Roland today. Who says that Friday the 13th is unlucky. We had a good day today. We started the day with a 8 lb 11 oz and ended the day with a 9 lb 7 oz. with several 4 to 6 pounders mixed in. I lost another fish in the 8 to 9 pound range , trying to swing her in the boat. She was a little to big to get over the rail. I worked today teaching Ted and Roland how to flip so I think they will do even better tomorrow. Our best five went about 33 pounds give or take. I had some good fish not pictured as well. We boated a bunch today.

Thursday, February 12th, 2015I was to be on the water with Ted today, but since he has me booked for three days and the weather today looks like the wind will be hard out of the north , we decided to wait till tomorrow and start then. So I finally get a much needed day off. I have been on the water 12 straight days and my boat needs some cleaning and care. Before I start my 13 day run tomorrow. For the ones that know me , know I do not like to fish shallow, but right now ,your butt better be on the bank. I have to admit that it is starting to grow on me , because it has been a blast, especially when the big ones just slam the spinner bait. I have not fished deeper than 4 foot in the last 12 days and plan on staying 4 ft or shallower the next 13 days. Bass Champs is right around the corner on the 21st . It should be interesting what the winning pattern will be. UPDATE : My Peacock bass trip to Brazil is just about sold out. I only have two spots left to sell on this great trip. I know that this trip is on a most of your bucket list. We have lowered the price to $3995 per person . This price is the best price you will ever get . Our boat we stay on is the biggest and the best. The food , guides, staff, and equipment is the very best in the jungle. I am still trying to charter a third boat , but as of now I have not heard back from the owner in Brazil. So if you want to go , you need to get in touch with me soon.

Took out Wayne and Clint today. We had stiff South winds on us all day, but we put the whack on some fish today. We boated over 30 fish today and had a good number of quality as noted by the pictures, No monsters in the boat . I had my chance but she won. We stayed shallow again today flipping lizards and chuncking spinner baits .
