I took out Mike and George again today. After yesterday and a fair day in the nasty weather , I thought we were going to whack them today. Well I was wrong, Falcon kicked our butts today. We had Five bites all day , one really big one that George broke off and one 4 pounder that he put in the boat. That’s It , we had a one fish day. I do not know if my fish have moved or they just did not bite today. We even went out deep and checked some of that today. I will be back at it tomorrow and hope to find something going on.

Feb 27 001 Feb 27 002Took out Mike and George today. It was a little nippy today, but I did not think it was going to change much of what the fish were doing. Mike got us started in a big way with his first ever Falcon Lake bass that hit the scale at 8 lb 5 oz. I thought that it was going to be like my last couple of trips . Well we caught plenty of fish , but never could get another big fish. George did break a big one off. Other that that we did not get a big bite the rest of the day. We did catch several 3 to 4 pounders , witch keep us focused . I have them again tomorrow and hope to have a better big fish day.

Well I got the day off due to a weather postpone. David and Ross made the right choice to stay off the water today and I will take them Sun as they are going to hang around to go out with me . I seem to have a little something figured out on what the quality fish are doing and I really do not  think this front will affect them , or I at least hope it does not. Falcon lake is still coming up a little each day and that is really odd this time of year , as they start to pull water. I been here a long time and this is really a different pattern for this time of year. In my opinion I think this will hang up the post spawn fish as they will not want to come out of the cover. The off shore post spawn will not be as good on structure until we start to drop. As long as we are moving up in level the fish will stay up. In this case I am still targeting mostly post spawn females in a few spawners very close to the same areas. Most of our big fish form the past couple of days have been post spawn.

Feb 25 001 Feb 25 002 Feb 25 003 Feb 25 004 Feb 25 005 Feb 25 006Took out Charles and Randy again today. We were going to have to work to do as good as we did yesterday. Well Work we did as it was a grind all day long. We did not catch as many fish as yesterday but man when we go a bite it was a good one. We fished pretty clean today, but Randy really lost a fish today that he had all up and around the boat. I had to man the trolling motor so Charles was trying to land her . She jumped up beside the boat and broke his line . If we had used a net we would have got her. She was just like the other three big ones we caught. We had three over 8 pounds today and two more in the 5 pound range to make us with about 35 pounds for our best five. A little later in the day Randy and I both lost the same fish or there were two 8 pounders in the same place, she kicked both or butts. 40 pounds alluded use again today, but damn these fish are tough when they are in the bushes.

Feb 24 001 Feb 24 002 Feb 24 003 Feb 24 004 Feb 24 005 Feb 24 006 Feb 24 007 Feb 24 008 Feb 24 009 Feb 24 010Well I was back to work after having the weekend off. I went out and did some much needed scouting Sun . and It really paid off today. I had Randy and Charles today and we really smacked the fish today and some big ones . Charles had the biggest with a 9 lb 3 oz and followed it up with a 8 lb 4 oz , not far behind was Randy with a 8 lb 7 oz . He also had a 6 lb 10 oz and our smallest in the bag was  5 lb even. That makes a 37 lb 8 oz best five. Now we should have destroyed 40 pounds as we broke off three more big ones , anyone of them would have put us over the 40 pound mark , which is damn had to get on Falcon right now. We caught a bunch of quality 3 to 4 pounders as well. The big one came on the blade , but the rest came on plastics. I have them again tomorrow . If you are wondering about the picture of us three all holding a fish. The picture was taken by a friend of mine. We had a boat move in on us and we caught these three fish in about a five min span and I did not want to weight them and take a picture while they were intruding so I put them in the well for about 30 min until all was clear. We put them back where we caught them as they were not more than 10 yards apart.

Feb 21 001 Feb 21 002I took out Luis and Tony today. We got off to a late start hitting the water after 8 am . We started off good as we all had a fish in the boat within the first 30 min. After that start it took another hour to put another one in the boat. Luis wanted to go do some deep cranking and that was fine with me as I do not like to fish shallow anyway and I have been there way to much lately. So off to crank deep for a while. our first two spots did not produce a fish , but Luis got his best for the day on our third spot. I lost one there as well. I plan on throwing in a mix of deeper fishing as I think a lot of our spawn has happened and we should start see more fish out on the edges. We came in early as they had to head back to Mexico.

Feb 20 001 Feb 20 002 Feb 20 003 Feb 20 004I had Bill and Greg today if you read Tuesday’s blog , you know I had them that day as well. We really got off to a good start with 10 fish boated and 3 fish lost before the north wind hit. Once it did we put the boat on the trailer and called it a day. I lost a really nice fish , in the 7 pound range , as I had thrown way back in some really thick stuff in about a foot of water and she made a wake coming to get the spinner bait. I pulled her through 4 bushes and one tree and got her to the boat and my damn spinner bait broke. Well it was fun to see anyway. Man some of these fish are supper shallow .

Took out Brandon and Chad today. I knew it was going to be a little of a grind today as we only had two fish on the blade on our first pass threw an area that I know is holding a ton of fish. Out with the flipping sticks and to the grind we went. It started out pretty good as Brandon and I caught one pretty quick. Than I sounded like Chad had fell in the lake. Brandon and I looked back just in time to see this monster fish spit his bait back at Chad at the top of the water. I really felt bad as this fish was a monster and he had her in open water. Well after we got over that , we started our grind out a fish day. We worked very slow and covered a lot of water . About noon Chad does his thing again on another big fish . This time she gets him in a bush and he gets her out and she gets around another twig but is trashing at the top and she makes a dive and breaks him off. What the luck. We did not catch any picture fish today and we ground out 13 fish boated , Our biggest was a heavy 4 pounder. We caught 2 fish on the blade and 11 fish on the plastics, today.

Feb 18 001 Feb 18 002 Feb 18 003 Feb 18 004Took out Bill and Greg today. We started out with the blade today and caught a few right off the bat. After a little bit I knew the fish were not as aggressive today as they were yesterday. We got more bites today than I did with my trip yesterday, but we only boated 17 fish today. We had to use more plastics today than usually . The fish were just pushing the bait today and missed a bunch because of it. The good news is there are a lot of fish in the area so it kept us busy. I have another group tomorrow , but then I have Bill and Greg on Thursday , I hope we can do better then. Greg did catch a nice post spawn fish today. I had two more around five pounds so we had a fair bag today.
