Well I did my last trip before headed out to go on My Peacock Bass trip. I picked up Justin and Leslie today, and it was cold and raining. They wanted to give it a try anyway so that is what we did. We fished our tails off and Big fish Leslie did it again. Both Justin and I had our chance but the fish just did not stay hooked up. Justin had a monster fish explode and swipe at his spinnerbait , but did not eat it. I really had a good time with these two guys the last two day and with Ricky the day before . Thanks guys for the three days as I really needed it after the Christmas break , before the journey to the jungle. This will be my last post for a while because I will not have internet service where I am going . Thanks to everyone that gave me a chance this year and I am really looking forward to the upcoming year. Happy New Year to all. See you when I get back and I should have a ton of pictures to post. I will also try to shoot some great video.

Sunday, December 29th, 2013 Well today was one of them days that it could have been and should have been a really good stringer today. You can look at the smile on Leslie’s face that he got him a DD today. The fish went 10 lb 1 oz and was his personal best. I also want to mention that yesterday Ricky’s 9 lb 15 oz was his personal best as well. Now lets talk about the day at hand . It was a great day to be out . Justin got his heart broke first thing today as he got a 9 pounder to the net and she decided to make a last min jump and the crank bait flew out of her mouth. Hell it was early so I told him that he just had to get another one and forget about it . Well he did get another one and this one did the same thing. What the luck. Dad was doing all the good he did not loose one. Well let me tell you about a net job on his 10 pounder . This fish was giving him all the heck he could take and he finally got her out from under the boat and when she came up beside the boat she jumped just like the ones Justin had lost and the crank bait flew out and she hit the water unhooked and swam right at me so I dipped the net deep and she swam in it. We need to have some good luck because we had lost some nice fish. We slowed way down after lunch and had a few bites but not much action at all. I have these two tomorrow and I hope the weather is not to bad as this is my last trip before I go Peacock Bass fishing in Brazil.

Saturday, December 28th, 2013 Well I said I would give you a report after I got on the water. I took out Rickey today for my first day back on the water since Christmas break. We found the fish biting and really had a good morning. Rickey is pictured with his best five for the day. His stringer was anchored by a massive 9 lb 15 oz . I know call it a Ten, but I weighted it twice and both time it said 9 lb 15 oz . Rickey did such a great job today as he did not loose a single fish. I only lost one and this fish I thought I had as I fought it all the way out to the boat and we were sitting in 22 foot of water so we had seen here twice , she was in the 8 pound range. She wanted to go again at the boat so I let her go , trying not to put to much pressure on her and damn if she found something under the boat in 22 foot to get around and broke me off. That is the only fish we lost all day long. We boat about 15 fish all but one was really good quality. I will take that today after I had heard how tough it has been. All our fish came on the crank bait except one on a tex rig that Rickey caught and it was our only small fish of the day.

Friday, December 27th, 2013Well , I am ready get on the water , but it is still raining and cold here in Zapata, It started raining Christmas day around 7 pm and it has been raining non stop for about 32 hours now and is still raining. I have a trip tomorrow and will go regardless , rain or shine. I have talked to several people and the fishing has been really slow. That is Falcon for you . These fish just do not respond in a good way to cold weather and water temp. Starting tomorrow it is going to start to warm up a little , but the water temp has really dropped back down to a negative point. I want to see water temp in the mid to high 60’s , to get the fish moving up to where they can be caught. If you are planning to come down, be sure to try to plan around or inbetween these cold fronts and you will have a better trip.

Wednesday, December 25th, 2013Merry Christmas; Well this year is nearly done , and Although it has been a toughfer year than the past few , it has still been a good one. Getting to guide on Falcon is allways a good thing. Like in the past , I have really met some great clients and I want to thank everyone that gave me the opertunity to be in the boat with them. This comming new year Sheretta and I am going to start our year out Peacock fishing in Brizal with some great clients and freinds. I have had this on the books for two years now and the time is nearly here. We are headed that way on Jan 2nd. Man I am so ready. I have all my video and camera equipment as I plan on getting some great stuff to post on my site when I get back. Lets Talk a little about Falcon . I have been on the phone every day with some guides and friends and clients that have been on the water everyday since I have been on Christmas break and the censis is that the fishing has been a little tough. That is just this time of year and water temp. We need to get some nice warm sunny weather and more time inbetween fronts and these fish will respond. I am headed back Thursday and will be on the water Friday thru Monday fishing and guiding, before I leave on my Peacock trip. I will let you know as to what is going on first hand. I did have a good trip out before my Christmas break and all the better fish we caught we Prespawn out a little deeper, but it was really cold and the water temp was 56. My time on Falcon has allways told me not to move up for the big Girls untill the water temp on Falcon is constant 65 and above. I did get a good report from one of my Clients that were staying at the Bass Shack that they really caught a bunch of bucks that had moved up shallow , tuesday , but no females . It is getting close, but these little fronts are going to hold it off until we have 4 or 5 warm sunny days between fronts. Like said I will be on the water Friday thru Monday and I plan on grinding it out every day , so check back and I will let you know what I find out. Good Luck and Good Fishing for Now.

Saturday, December 21st, 2013 I am in Abilene to do the Christmas with the Family. Yesterday when we arrived it was 35 degrees and wet. The highlight of our trip was when Morgan my youngest daughter brought our newest grandchild to finally meet us. I sure got a lot of text yesterday from my fishing friends in Zapata, as it was 85 there yesterday. The only problem is I talked to two of them and they fished all day without even a bite, I just wonder what is going on with that. I will be back in just a few day to find out on my own. I have booked the 29, and 30th but still have the 26, 27, 28, open. and will ready to hit the lake if you want to fish , I have two guides on the water today I will post later to see how they do today.

Wednesday, December 18th, 2013 Well I had a real differant , but really fun day. I had a client and freind that it had been five years since he had fished with me on Falcon . He brought his son Riley with him as Riley was not even born the last time Paul had fished with me. I took Riley out early on a catfish trip and he is pictured fighting a big mister whiskers and got him in the boat for what ended up being our biggest of the day. The bite was slower than I expected as the water temp had these guys scattered as well. After the morning trip we loaded up and ate lunch and Riley wanted to go out in my Bass boat. Well we did and he wanted to drive it as well and did a great job at that. We tried to fish a little but the wind made it a little hard on the 5 year old , but I did get him hooked up once but the fish came off. That did not matter at that point because we still had this boat for him to show boat in and so that is what we did . Let me tell you these kind of trips are alot more fun than having a 40 pound day.

Monday, December 16th, 2013Well I did not fish today , but I got my boat cleaned up and organized and ready to take someone out. I at this point have Thursday open and the weather is going to be great, someone needs to take this day. Wed I have a friend bringing his little boy and I am going to take them cat fishing , he just wants to catch a bunch of fish. Friday I am headed north for Christmas with my family, but our Christmas get to gather is on Sat the 21st . This leaves me a few days left to fish before I am off to Brazil to do some peacock bass fishing. Dates I have that I will fish before I leave are Dec 19, 23, 24, 25, 26 , 27, 28, 29, 30, 31st . After that I will not be back for guiding until Jan 14th and I am booked that day so my first open day will be Jan 16th I am really getting booked up Mid Jan thru March so if you are planning to fish with me or come to Falcon get in touch with me and let’s get it set up. Falcon is in really great shape going into our busy season. Lots of big fish will be caught from now thru March so come on down and get you some.

Saturday, December 14th, 2013 Well what a difference a day can make . I had Mike and his son Logan today. We had an agenda today. Yes we wanted to catch some fish, but we were preparing for an upcoming tournament. We get off to a n early start as Logan catches a nice fish on our first spot on his first cast. We fish there for about 10 min and Logan catches another and we leave. We got to another spot and Logan catches one good fish there in about five or ten min. we leave to head to our third spot and Mike catches one their on his first cast , well this has a little twist to it. Mike on his first cast hung his crank bait in the rocks and I tell him that I will not go get it until Logan fishes it for a few min. Well I did not have to go get it as a Bass and a good one takes it off the rocks for him. We hit two more spots in the area, but did not catch any , they did not fit the criteria that was on the first three spots. I make a move to a different area of the lake that had the same combo the first three spots did and bam Logan gets on of the fish pictured on his first cast. We move again and we get a hook up but do not land this one. We are on a little pattern and also I am getting to show them the lake . I am in a hurry as I know the wind is going to get bad. We make another move and this time Mike gets on fire . Mike gets a big fish as soon as we start fishing our last spot of the day . On his next cast , in the same spot he get on the fish of a lifetime. This fish is so big it cant jump it just walers at the service close to the boat and we all get a great look at this monster . I only hope that Logan gets her in the tournament as we did not get her in the boat . She just dove down as she realized she was to fat to jump, and pulled the hook. Logan catches a nice fish there as well , so we had three quality bites in just a few min there. We decided at that point to call it a day early and I would just show them some more spots on the way back and we did not fish any more at that point.
