Well somehow I missed booking today , as I flipped my book to the next page ,Monday got overlooked. So I decided to clean and reline some more of my reels. We really got a good rain yesterday and we still have a chance today for some more . The lake has come up nice this week . Tuesday the 23rd we were sitting at 256.51 (lowest) and now we are at 258.53 Man that is 2 feet in a week and we sure can use it. The chance of rain we have is before 10 am , so if it clears up I will probably go out, if I can find someone that wants to go. It looks like we have another little front coming in later this week , but other than wind I do not see it changing anything, but from now on the weather should get more and more consistent , Hot is what I want. These fish here on Falcon, like it hot, and sunny.

Well I am enjoying the weekend off , but I get a little bored sitting around the house. I have detailed my, boat , cleaned and relined all my rods and reels. I ran out of things to do, so I made a few brownie points with the wife and put her a new flower bed in , as pictured. As reported in my a fishing report I had a couple of days open up in May, I got them filled right away But I did have June 3 and 4 open up if anyone wants it . The fishing has been pretty good for the most part , with good numbers and some really solid fish. So far April has produced a 12 lb 8 oz and a 10 lb 10 oz for the biggest so far this month. That is some giant fish for this time of year. This just lets you know Falcon is still in great shape on big fish. They might be a little harder to catch in the past due to low water and pressure, but they can still be caught. The lake has came up about a foot this week and is still coming up and with the rain and Amistad letting some water out , it is going to help a little , At this point we will take all that we can get.

Took out Greg and Mike after a two day weather delay. We were all ready , so we hit the water early and started off right off the bat with a couple of 5 pounders, Greg did have a big one on but he never turned her and she got around a rock and broke him off. We just stayed in the area , as I was wanting to rotate a few spots and another boat was in the area. I finally figured who it was and give him a text , to see what he was going to do. He was on one side of a ridge and I wanted to fish the other side and there was plenty of room so we talked about it and I took the other side . I try not to fish in site of another boat , but I know him and he is a straight up guide and we both honer guides spots. Both boats were catching fish so everything was good. We had a monster today a 10 lb 10 oz thanks to Greg with the picture of the beast. He also had a fish that would have been pretty with the black spots and only weighted 6 lb 12 oz and should have went 8 , but she was sure beat up and skinny. We had several more fish in the 4 to 5 pound range , and late in the day Mike had his big fish on and on the way to the boat and she jumped and threw his hook , she looked to be in the 8 pound class.

Thursday, April 25th, 2013Did not fish yesterday and today due to a weather postponement . Can you believe it is late April and we get a nasty front like this. It feels more like Jan or Feb to me. I have the guys tomorrow and the weather will be warming up by than and I will be ready. The bite has been pretty good with a lot of fish a lot shallower than usual . I have caught some real deep fish, but there are a lot more bites shallow. Just to let some of you know I had May 8 and 9 open up . It is the only days I have open in May so if you want to come fish with me in my favorite month , get it while it last. First call will get them. Hope by this time , there will be no clod fronts. I have never seen one in May. Also it looks like we are catching a little bit of water too.

Took out Allen and Daniel again today. The wind was just a bitch today. We had to brave it to have a good day and that is what we did. We only boated 20 to 25 today ,not 40 like yesterday , but yesterday we had a good flipping bite for numbers and today we did not do that. We basically stayed deep all day. We only landed 4 big fish , but we sure had our shot. I lost a tarpon that was 8 to 9 pounds on a crank bait and Allen lost another one that was about 8 on the C-Rig . we got a look at those two, We lost four more fish that felt big also today but we did not get a look at them. I am to go out tomorrow but it does not look good and if I can postpone the trip I will. One thing about today with this wind we did not have to share much water with anybody today, just one butt at the dam that seen me loose the tarpon, he moved in right on top of us , so I just picked up the trolling motor and left at that point. Just the butt and I were at the dam at that time and there is no good reason that he moves over to about 20 yards from us ,when he sees the fish jump and throw the crank. With all that room at the dam today I just do not get that kinda of shit out of another fisherman.

Took out Allen and Danial today . This was a Christmas gift to them from Allen’s wife. We have one more day as she fixed them up for two days. I had these guys back in 2007 first week of May and our day started with a Triple all on our first cast with the crank bait and I will never forget it . We dipped all three fish in the same net and I weighted the net with the three fish in it and it went 27 lb 4 oz . Now we did not have that kinda start today. We did however start out with the crank and caught a few 3 pounders and I had a big fish just pulled and came unglued . After the crank bit died we picked up the C-Rig and started just whacking the fish. Now most were 2 to 4 pounders , but we did catch three nice fish as well on it. After that , just for a change of pace , we went to a flipping bite and damn did we catch them , the only problem all were under 5 pounds. With an hour to go we decided to go back deep and I caught a nice 7 lb 7 oz and we caught a bunch more in the 3 to 4 pound range. We boated about 40 fish today and just had a blast. Tomorrow we are going for the big bite .

Saturday, April 20th, 2013Took out Josh , Just for a couple of hours, to get him back familiar with the lake. He has a tournament and , well you know how the lake is changing from day to day. We headed south and for the most part early the wind was still pretty strong out of the north. Want to say if you launch at the county ramp , be careful at the bridge. You have to hug the west end of the bridge and it is only about 4 foot deep . If you get to far right of the bridge going out you will hit rock. I did not check the east end . Looks like to me that we can get out for another week as we are dropping over 6″ a day , by that time we can start going under the bridge I hope. There are all kinds of hazards in the lake and a bunch more will be showing up , so be very careful and run the channel when you can. Like I said we only fished a few hours and caught about 8 or 10 , but nothing to take a picture of .

It took me a while but I did get the carpet done in my boat. Now I am ready to get back on the water . I am off today , but I picked up a trip for Thur and Friday. Checking the weather for Thur it does not look very good with over 30 MPH northwest winds predicted. What is it with all this wind and especially out of the north in April. Friday behind the front looks ok so I will for sure be out there than. Lake level today is 258.73 or about 42 foot low and still headed down. We are still dropping at the rate of 6 to 7 inches a day , at this rate that is over 3 foot a week , It will not take long at this rate . The lowest I have fished Falcon Lake is about 59 foot low , I sure hope we do not get to this point.

Well I had origanaly taken this Monday and Tuesday off to get caret put in my boat. I just love the business people in this town. I had set this up some time ago and explained to him that I guide almost everyday and I would not book these two days so I could get my carpet put in. He agreed to the dates and well you guessed it he all the sudden could not do it when the time rolled around . Here I am with the two days off and the other three that canceled . I can not afford a week off . My only choice was to do it myself , at least I would save the money he was going to charge to put it in. Let me tell you it is a chore and I got all the doors done yesterday and will finish today. I have laid a bunch of carpet in my time in rent houses and such, but a boat is a whole new deal. Lots of work . I will have it complete today and will show you the finish product. This boat is up for sale and with , New power head, carpet, trolling motor, it is as nice as a new one for a fraction of the cost. Triton 21 Pro XS Elite, fully loaded , 250 SHO 50 hours on New Power Head. On a Fishing subject: The lake is still dropping like a rock . We sit at 259.16 as I write. We are loosing water at a rate of 6 to 8 inches a day. Things are starting to show up in this lake that have not been seen for years. You really have to be careful out there , it is best to stay in the river channel and even than there are some hugh trees that will come into play , very shortly. Well I better get my butt back to work .

Well I had the day off , but it was just to pretty so I talked Sheretta in to going out for a few hours. We hit the water about 9 and were off about 1 as I wanted to watch the golf tournament. Sheretta had not been for a while but she had not lost her touch as she caught a couple of nice ones, mixed in with a bunch of 2 to 3 pounders. We boated 15 or so in the three hours we were on the water. We caught all of our fish on soft plastics today , go figure because that is all we threw.
