Took out Jim and Jim today. We headed south and the wind was really nice to us today. We started out pretty good as Jim caught a couple of nice fish on the crank bait. We got bit quit a bit but they would not stay on. It was really slow today and we really had to grind to catch 25 fish and five that went 32 pounds. We did however lose some good fish today that would have really helped. We really fished all over the lake today , because with light winds we could. The bigger Jim caught 2 at the same time on the crank bait today , one about 3 and the other about a pound. Big Jim also got his string stretched in the Tigers today on a really big fish that just pulled so hard she pulled the hook. I am taking a little fishing trip to Rock port thru Thursday Sheretta , Tim and I are going to catch some trout and reds . I will let you know how we do.

I have the weekend off and wouldn’t you know it the wind stops blowing. That is ok as I needed to do some maintenance on my boat. I have it ready to go battle them Monday. The wind was just a bitch all week hope this week is better. For the most part Falcon is fishing a little tougher, but if you keep you head down and grind She will produce for you. Wind on the main lake will make it a little more of a challenge. The lake is still seeing lots of traffic and with lower lake levels and all that pressure will still pay it toll on Falcon, but Falcon will still be the best lake in the country for quality fish You are just not going to catch 30 over eight pounds a day like last summer. The Jig bite is really coming around and will just get better and better in the days to come. I am starting to throw it more and more each day. If you are planning a trip to Falcon check with me because I have a very nice place to stay and it will sleep up to 6 people and the place is very very clean and has everything including a second bathroom we just added.

Took out Steve and Nathon today. We knew it was going to blow so we put in at the state park and I am glad we did. We started on a main lake point and found the fish there but we could not stay connected with most of them I did catch a nice 5 pounder , but for the most part they wouldn’t hit the crank and you would have them on for a second and they would come off. We had something funny happen on our first spot. Nathan made a long cast and got a bad backlash in his reel. Steve and I keep chunking and after a while with the wind I had drifted back and I caught Nathan’s line that was still out with my crank bait. I got it in and started getting it off my crank bait and noticed It had a fish on it. Then I realised it was a big fish and than it jumped and we all saw it was a 8 to 9 pounder. I got the line to Nathan because he could not reel in and he started hand lining the fish to the boat. I was fighting the trolling motor and Steve was a little late with the net and Nathan broke the big fish off jumping at the boat. We told him that his hand drag was set to tight. Well this is how our day was going . I loose a nice 6 pounder and we finally catch some but mostly small. Nathan did land a nice 6 pounder, It got to windy so we went to more protected water. Nathan looses another 6 pounder at the boat. This day is not going well. We catch 5 or 6 more but again nothing over 4 pounds. Finally we went to the dam and we found a few down there I caught one about 7 pounds and Steve caught one about 4 pounds. We boat about 20 fish today and had twice that many bites. Just one of them days.

Well I went to pick up Jonnie’s grand kids and we decided it was going to be to windy for them to bass fish , so we switched boats and I took them up the river and we did a little cat fishing. We made a stop at the first Mexican fishing camp we came to and bought some fresh fish to use as cut bait. We just tied up to the trees above a deeper hole and they started catching a few . We got a cooler full and called it a day about noon. This was alot better on them than trying to bass fish them in this wind. I will be back to work tomorrow and give a full report .

Had the day off , we took a wind check I will try to fish Jonnie’s grand kids tomorrow if it is not to windy. I would not mind but two very young kids would not enjoy it very much. The lake is still inching down and we are below 264 . It has been a long time sense the water level has been this low. I do not think you can load at the state park ramp after this week. Before they put out metal grates on the point where we could get it. To my knowledge they have not done that yet. County is good and will be for a long time. Fishing is good and even better when you can get a day the wind does not kick your ass.

Took out Matt and Shawn again today. After yesterday they could not wait to get back on the fish. The only problem today the wind was just a bitch. We did not even attempt to fish out there. They had never fished a crank bait until yesterday and we had good conditions . Today was a different story. We did catch a few and a couple of nice ones but after yesterday it was a let down, for sure. We came in early .

Took out Matt and Shawn today. I had Matt with Jonnie last summer but Shawn had never bass fished before. Call It beginners luck or what ever you want but Shawn put the smack down on some toads today. I do not normally start a beginner out with a crank bait but with manageable winds early I have a hell of a spot and they were loaded up on it early. We started the day on the first cast with and 8 lb 3 oz and than Shawn backed that up with two five pounders and a 6 pounder and than a 7 lb 6 oz that he ask me to measure for a Replica I told him that I thought he would get a bigger one and in about ten min he landed a 8 lb 5 oz that was 26 long and 16 girth. Matt did not have it going on like Shawn . Shawn was on fire . We went back Thur the spot and A monster hit Shawn right at the boat, most people would loose this fish but Shawn did a great job and he put her in the boat all 10 lb 2 oz of her. Now we had to measure her she was 26.5 ” long and 18 in the girth. I think he is going to get a replica of both fish. What a way to start your bass fishing days. I know he is hooked and his wife might get pissed because this is an expensive and time consuming sport. I caught another 8 lb 6 oz to make out best five a whopping 42 lb 6 oz. We quit at 1 pm and headed in. All our big fish were caught on the crank bait . Matt caught 5 or 6 up to 4 pounds on soft plastics.

Well off again this Weekend . It has been a grind out there this past week or so. The wind has been a little hard to deal with. You can still catch them but you really have to cover water unless you can flip. Low stringer this week was 27 pounds and high was 39 lb 13 oz. I very seldom have an under 30 pound day but I had one this week. I did however have two over 10 pounds and five over 9 pounds for the week. There is still a ton of fish shallow and you can catch them with a spinner bait, small crank or flip. But the size is still out there to be had in very small pods on structure. The best spot for me this week produced 38 pounds and 15 fish over 6 , Most good spots I hit we will catch 3 to 5 good fish on, unlike last year this time you could get 30 or so off of a spot over 6 pounds, and most of the time more and bigger than that. The lake is still dropping a inch or two a day and it is adding up . We need some water this summer or it is going to be a circus this Jan and Feb with all the boats. On another note . We have added another bath to the Bass Shack and now with two full baths It is perfect for you stay , especially if you have a group. It will sleep six , and starting next week we will even have it ready for 8 people. It is booking up fast so get in touch with me and book your stay. 2 people $100, 4 people $125, 6 people $150 and 8 people $175 Has plenty of boat parking Two under cover, Big screen TV , wireless Internet, Fully stocked kitchen inside . Out door grill, fish cleaning station, Washer , Dryer. and very cold air. Also I am still offering free shipping on my Jigs and that bite is starting to get it on. You will be charged when you order but I will do a refund per pay Pal back to you.

Took Karl out today what was to be a nice less windy day. It was not bad early ,but that did not last long as the wind really picked up. I put in at the county again and ran to the dam. We started off ok but a little slower than it has been. I did catch a 9 lb 2 oz and a couple of 4 and 5 pounders. Karl caught a few smaller fish. We made a move out of the wind and Karl got his personal best a 9 lb even. Later in the day we headed back north and went into the Salado and flipped a few fair fish and Karl flipped a 7 pounder and I broke off a big fish. We only caught about 20 or so fish today. Slow day. But the two 9 pounders made the day.

Took out Darren and Patrick for their last day. They had a plane to catch so we only had a Half day. I wanted to fish all the way South down by the dam , but I did not have time to put in down their and so I decided even with the wind to put in at the county and run down in the boat to give us the most time. This really payed off as we got to my spot early and started whacking some really good fish. We had a 9 ,two 8’s and two 6 pounders in about thirty min. We caught severl more and upgraded to a little over 38 pounds. The wind just started kicking my butt so we hit a few spots on the way in catching a few and we made the run back to the ramp about noon. All the fish were caught on cranks and were released to Fight another day.
