Took out Tony and Jimmy today the first of a three day trip with them. The wind blew a little harder than I would have liked it but we did manage it ok. The numbers were ok today with us boating 30 fish, and we did catch a monster. Tony caught a 10 lb 1 oz load of a fish. This fish was not that fat she was just big. My five fish stringer was down a little with five that went 32 lb 6 oz. We had a 6 lb 8 oz and a 6 lb 5 oz and two 4 lb 12 oz that we weighted. We caught a bunch of four plus pounders today. Today finished up Oct and I will put my five fish average per trip up later. I think it is going to be good because I only had one trip that I can think off that is under 30 most we 40 or close to it. Update : My average trip for Oct was 35 lb 14 oz for five fish.

Saturday, October 30th, 2010 I went out scouting today and Jimbo wanted to go around for the ride with me today. I have a bunch of days in a roll starting tommorow and wanted to find some more fish. I went into the Salada today the first time in a while. The wind came up so I went up the river as I have not been up for a month ofr so. We did a few min of buzz baits and Jim caught a couple. It did not take me long to switch to the tex rig and I hit a spot making three cast and caught Little piggy. The first fish was just short of 21 inchs long and weighted 8 lb 2 oz It look so fat it was unbeleivable. my next cast produced a normal looking fish that went 9 lb 6 oz after that I pulled off. We looked around up the river some more catching a few more and called it a day before noon.

Friday, October 29th, 2010Took out John again today, we skipped yesterday because of the hard north wind. Today was just great weather. We got off to a very slow start as my deep bite was not working. We only had a 7 lb 9 oz and a couple of five pounders and a few small fish by lunch. After lunch I decided to move up and start flipping. This was a great move as we started whacking some toads. John and I got our you know what tore up and I even went to my big flipping stick and it did not help much. We did however landed a few big ones a 9 lb 13 oz and a 8 lb 4 oz and some heavy six pounders Our best five today 9lb 13 oz, 8 lb 4 oz, 7 lb 9 oz, 6 lb 12 oz, 5 lb 10 oz, for a 38 lb five fish stringer.

Wednesday, October 27th, 2010Out today with John from Co. If you look back on my fishing report to Oct 4th you will see him and we talked about how many fish kicked his butt. After he thought about it, while back home in Durango Co. he could not take it anymore and hopped on a plane arriving in Zapata at 4 am today and did he ever get revenge on these fish. We stuck some pigs today. The pictures are of our best six fish and we caught plenty more. The biggest was a 9 lb 14 oz and John got his personal best a 8 lb 13 oz. We culled a 6 lb 11 with a 6 lb 15 oz and had a 7 lb 7 oz and a 7 lb 4 oz for a good stringer of five that went 40 lb 5 oz. John will tell you that equipment makes the difference. He bought a RPM rod from me and he needed it all to land these fish. You can still get these great rods for 30% off . Go to my home page ,at the bottom click on the RPM Custom Rods logo and pick the rod you want and in the coupon box type in TLTX and it will discount the rod or rods for you. We used the Okeechobee flipping pitching special in 7’6″ or 7’9″ This rod is a must if you want to land these fish on Falcon. The big fish are on the bite and the weather is great. I still have a few open dates in November and December is a great month as well. Let’s go fishing. The water temp is still around 80 and the fishing is going to get even better as it cools down. I am averaging nearly a 40 pound five fish stringer per trip in Oct. Did I tell you that I love this Lake……….

We went to flipping the brush and started catching some good fish in the 4 to 5 pound range. We found one tree that was loaded with some big fish and We got our you know what tore up. Thursday, October 21st, 2010I will be off the water for a few days but I will be back to work Monday with a full week of trips. The fishing is great on Falcon and I see nothing but it getting better as the water cools down. November is right aroud the corner and I know form the past that this means Falcon fish are going to start really getting active. I am really booked up in November but I do have a few open dates left I would like to fill. Look at my schedule and pick a date you will be glad you did. For the most part the bigger fish have been out just a little from the shallow fish that have been smaller. If you want to catch numbers stay up and if you want the bigger bite stay out in 16 to 22 foot. Believe it or not this is shallower that the bigger fish have been this time of year. For the ones that are worried about Falcon do not be. The Texas side is safer than anywhere you can fish. The wardens and border patrol are everywhere. I still fish Mex every chance I get but I really have the big fish patterned all over the lake right now. soft plastics fished slow have been the ticket but the moving baits are starting to come into play and should do nothing but get better as we get into the fall cool down. I will have my computer with me if you have any questions or want to contact me do so.

Friday, October 15th, 2010 Out with Mark and Jeff again today. We started out on big fish and The landed three out of seven I would say the fish won. People do not realize how mean these big fish are. Mark got on the board today with some picture takers, but he lost more than he landed. We were fishing a tough place and they were holding tight and were hard to get out. We only fished till lunch and called it a day catching 27 fish today 9 lb 3 oz was the big fish for the day We also had a 7 lb 9 oz and another 7 lb 2 oz and several more in the 5 to 6 pound range. Not a bad half day of fishing.

Thursday, October 14th, 2010 Took out Mark and Jeff today and they told me that they did not care if they caught a bunch of fish but would like a bigger quality bite. I love this so we started deep and stayed deep all day. The wind was out of the north today and at time it blew pretty hard, so we just went to some places that I have not been in a while where we could fish deep and still be able to feel the bottom. I would not call it a slow day at all as we boated 38 fish today and also did what we set out to do is get the quality bite. most of all our fish today were 5 pounds and bigger we had only about 6 to 8 that were not 5 pounds or better. Our biggest was a solid 9 lb 5 oz and pictured in the double that Jeff is holding We had a triple on but Mark lost his at the boat and it was about a 7 pounder. Jeff also had a 8 lb 9 oz and another fish at 6 lb 15 oz. The 8 lb 9 oz fish came on Jeff’s last cast of the day. By the way for you that are worried about comming to Falcon because of the latest events The Texas side is well patroled and the fishing is just as good as the Mex side. We stayed on the Texas side all day and we saw athorities everywhere. Falcon is probably safer now that anytime before. The fish are biting so come on down and let us go fishing .
