Took out Nick and Skip today for a half day falcon lake guide trip. We had a real pretty morning and caught a bunch of fish early. We started out with the buzz bait and had several go after it but we did not connect with very many. We switched to the tex rig and started catching them so that is what we stayed with. I am to fish them again tomorrow for a half day but I sure will be watching the weather. Our biggest fish of thew day was one that weighted 8 lb 4 oz, but we caught a bunch of 3 to 5 pounders.

Took out Mike and Candy today for a Falcon Lake Guide Trip. Mike fished with me last Tuesday with Jerry and today he brought Candy to get into some of this fun. I started them out a little differant than last time as we went way South to start with. Candy broke the ice with a nice 7 lb 1 oz but we did not do that good down there. We worked our way back checking a spot or two along the way catching a few up to 6 pounds. We ended up the river at one oclock and we got in to a mess of big fish. I broke off two that I did not turn and Mike got his personal best a 9 lb 9 oz pig. We started out slow but ended with a bang. Tex rigged soft plastics for all our fish, nothing came on top today.

Took out Nick today for a half day. We got off to a late start and still managed a big fish early. I went South down the lake as the forcast was for the wind to be light. This was a mistake as the wind blew hard today and I could not fish what I went Sout to do. We did catch a few but all and all it was a poor day for us. We had a bunch of fish pick the bait up and drop it before we could get a hook set. We also lost several that seemed to not take it all the way and they would get to the surface and let it go. I would think the bite might had got better later in the day due to the moon that we have at night but we did not find to many that were very hungry early. Nick’s fish was a heavy 8 pounder.

Well I have no pictures today. I took out Tim and Robert today for a trip on Falcon Lake. We got off to a little later start than I wanted to, but we still found some shallow fish that wanted to bite. The fish did their job but Tim and Robert were a little undergunned for these hard fighting Falcon Bass. Tim was just getting hammered as he had a big fish on on his first three cast in a roll. I did everyting to help them but the fish were all winning the battle. I laughed my butt off as Tim got twelve fish on and did not put one in the boat till lucky 13 hit. Then it was Roberts turn. He did a little better but he still lost his first five. As you can see we were into fish big time. The thing is that most of the fish loss was not as much their faught as it was their equipment. If you come to Falcon you have to bring you big guns. You can not go Elk hunting with a 22. We did land about 20 fish today, Time was 5 for 26 and Robert was 6 for 15. I did catch a few and lost a few as well. The main thing is that we had all kinds of action and we had a blast. When they left they got some Rob information from me and are comming back loaded with bigger guns.

Took out Mike and Jerry today and we just whacked the big fish today. I have some good pictures but for some reason my blog picture upload will not work. I will put them in my gallery. We started shallow and had a big stringer in the first hour. Jerry had on a couple he could not turn and finally caught his personal best a 9 lb 2 oz brute but lost one quite a bit bigger. We caught all our fish on tex rigged soft plastics as they would not hit the buzz bait today. We left our early shallow bite and fished deep the rest of the day. We caught three over 8 pounds early and the 9 lb 2 oz and another 8 pounder came deep. We boated about 30 fish today and most all of them were over 5 pounders. Well looks Like I got the pictures up at last

Took out Jim Bo today just to fish and find some new stuff down the lake south. We started shallow doing well catching 18 fish with one that went 8 lbs. After the shallow bite slowed we went out on the main lake deep 27 to 35 foot deep and finished the day with several more fish in the 6 to 8 pound range. I am sorry about no pictures but I did not have my camera. We quit at 2 pm because it was hot and we got hungry. We caught 27 fish today with 36 lb 8 oz for our best five.

June 18, 2010 001June 18, 2010 006June 18, 2010 007June 18, 2010 009 Took out Francisco and Fabricio today for a windy Falcon Lake Guide Trip. Today just proves if you want to battle the wind. You will be rewarded. We caught a really good stringer today. We had a 9 lb 8 oz, 9 lb 5 oz, 8 lb 7 oz, 7 lb 4 oz, and 6 lb 10 oz for a 41 lb 2 oz stringer. We really had to fight the wind to get these fish and we broke off three more that we did not see. We fished in Mexico most of the day and never saw another boat. I do not know if it was the wind or if it is the fear of Mexico but I sure like not having to worry about other boats. Francisco and Fabrico are for deep in Mexico and usually fish Sugar but they do not think it is safe yet so they came over to fish Falcon and I bet they are glad they did. We really had a good day considering the wind was a Bitch today. We caught all our fish on Tex rigged soft plastics.

June 16 001June 16 004Had out Ralph and Chris today for a Falcon Lake Guide Trip. We started out today knowing the wind was going to be nasty and it was. Knowing this I decided to go fish up the river. We had to work like a dog but we did manage to scrape up some good fish We had a 9 lb 3 oz and a 7 lb 12 oz for the ones pictured and we caught another 7 pounder and several 4 to 5 pounders. We fished on the Mex side quite a bit today and had know trouble. I really think that the threat is over. We had a fair day but we really lost alot of fish today I do not know if it was the bite or the wind but we sure did loose a bunch of fish today. At one time Ralph lost 7 fish in a roll and I bet I had a string of five in a roll. We boated about twenty five fish today but lost at least 15 more.

June 15 007June 15 011I finally got back on the water today. As you know I took a little time off and went back to Abilene as I had not been there since Brandon’s funeral. The first thing I did when I got back is to go and vist his grave site to see his head stone I had made. I think they did a great job. the deer and bass was great and if you look left and right on the sides you will see his fishing rod and his hammer. Back to the fishing. Falcon was windy today as it has been for a while and is expected for several more days. I have a trip tommorow so I wanted to located some areas out of the wind that held some good fish. I went up the river today for the first time in a long time. I found three good schools of quality fish like you see in the picture. A a upbeat note Sheretta and I had another grandchild Sun and her name is Payton. This is the child of Sheretta’s olddest daughter Amber and Father Chris it was their first. Sheretta ungest daughter Lauren is expecting in Aug and this will be her first and this will make five grandchildren for us.

Well vacation is over and I am back at Falcon. My yard needs quite a bit of attention and as soon as it gets it I will be back on the water. The lake is comming up a little and this is a good thing, we need all the water we can get. The Mexico danger has seem to quite down a little, but I personally think that it was severly overblown as the storys seem to grow and change a bit. I know that several people are fishing all over the Mexico side without any trouble. The tournament last week was won in the Salada buy someone that claimed he was robbed in there a while back so at least he thinks it is OK LOL. I know one thing and that is I will be fishing in Mexico all that I can. I did get to fish a couple of lakes in my old stompping grounds and caught a few nices fish. The wind was terrible as it has been here.
