TWC never fixed my problem in Zapata over the 7 weeks I was there , so I told them to just forget it. I am posting my last 4 days on Sugar . I had Wally for two days. It did not start out well as I blew a lower unit going to my first spot. The picture is a Mexican netter hauling us back to the ramp. Wally and I had to go get another lower unit, thanks to Carlos he had one and we got it put on and hit the water for about 2 hours in the eve the first day. Even though we had trouble we were able to catch some monster fish. Day two was just as good and we got to fish all day. The next trip was with two of my favorite clients Jimmy and Kathy. Man did we have a good time and catch a lot of big fish as shone by the pictures . I forgot my phone the first day or there would have been more pictures. I did get Jimmy to take a picture or two and email them to me. I will be in Abilene the whole month of July so I will not be taking trips. I do however got someone there to take you out if you want to go. Get in touch with me and I will hook you up. It was a fun May and June guiding down on Falcon and Sugar , Now it is time for a little work on the estate and some golf with good friends.

Scott brought down David . David had never bass fished  before and of course had never caught one or see one. What a place to start his fishing . David had to stay with a open face real and rod as he did not know how to use a baitcaster. It was a treat watching him get his butt kicked a few times. He really whacked some nice fish on day one and about 11 am he was pooped and I had to take him to the room. Scott and I went out and did a little damage to say the least on some nice fish . We only fished a little more than a half day today . Scott has been on a quest for a while to break the 7 lb mark and today he smashed it with his personal best a 9 lb 10 oz beast that was 25 in long and 18 in around. this will be his first bass mount to go with all the other trophies in his home. I am very very happy with him. Scott called his wife and is bring her back on the 30th this month. My kind of client. The other pictures of Cody in the yellow shirt was from Falcon Sat with him and Chance. We had to work but we did get on some Quality late in the day. Falcon is really fishing very well as I have done pretty good when I have had the chance to get on her. As to the number of fish that were caught , I really did not keep count , expecially on Sugar . It was a ton to say the least, but I only want picture, picture and more pictures of my clients with big fish and even a bigger smile or Like Scott with his picture with his personal best LOL. Thanks Chance , Cody , Scott and David for the trips.

I had 8 straight days on Sugar with 3 different groups. I had Daniel and Tom day one two and three , Dale and Kenny for day 4 ,5, and 6 and Richard and Stephanie for day 7 and 8. The weather was really bad on Sat and Sun for Dale and Kenny, but we caught a fishable day for their third and final day with me Monday. Kenny caught the big fish of the trip a 10 lb 12 oz brute . We all caught a ton of fish and by the pictures we caught a fair mount of big fish. I took a lot more pictures than I wanted to post , but posted enough so that you could see that anytime you go to Sugar You are going to catch some good fish. Sugar came up about 2 feet the last 10 or so days and the fish have moved around a little , but you can still catch them and and big numbers. My worst day on numbers came on a 25 MPH north wind and we still had over 50 fish. Some days out of the 8 My boat was around 100 per day. Being said that Sugar is fishing well I am going to stay down the rest of June and take trips . I have the 14 thru the 26 open now . I was to be gone to Abilene during that time . My wife will not be happy but I am staying here LOL. If you want to go , get in touch with me.

I had Ron and Dustin for day one and two and I had Jackson and Nick for day three and four. This was a very fun trip as they all knew each other and had a little tournament going on. the deal was who had the biggest five fish stringer when they fished with me. I did not fish a lick and that was just ok with me. My fish would have not counted and so I did not want to get in the way of this massive bet. It was close and very close and came right down to the wire. Ron and Dustin ended up with five that went 38 lb 3 oz , a pretty good stringer as most of you know. Well Jackson and Nick pull it of in the last hour to get a 38 lb 9 oz stringer . All the fish were weighed on my scale and no fibbing was allowed . To make it hard , Dustin caught a fish that was 6 and a half pounds that we took a picture of and he let here go before I had weighted her and there smallest fish in their five fish bag was a 5 lb 15 oz fish , they would have had 8 to 12 more ounces for their stringer had that had not happened and would have won the huge and I mean huge prize. I took a lot more pictures of a bunch of quality 6 to 7 pounders , but I put up enough for you to get the idea on how sweet Sugar is. We caught 100’s  of fish. These guys were great and we had a great time.

I had just Scott the first day and Dal came down and fished the second day with us. These two guys just love to fish and are a blast to fish with. We caught a ton of fish both days. Sugar right now is just crazy on the numbers . There are a ton of big fish in the lake but there are billions and billions of small fish in there now . Right now it is about 20 little ones per big fish. However I did get a little more dialed in and on day two we caught a lot better quality fish. These two are really fired up about Sugar and have made plans to be back in June and July. I really look forward to adding them to my client list. I was to guide here on Falcon Sat but Luis is ill and had to reschedule . I did not mind as I need to give my nasty boat a detail. After have over 500 fish put thru it in Five days it is very nasty . I will return to Sugar come Monday and I can not wait.

20160509_073637_resized 20160509_073657_resized 20160510_114640_resized (1) 20160510_114647_resized (1) 20160510_143729_resized (1) 20160510_143741_resizedIt is sure great to be posting a fishing report again. It has been a while since my last trip. I had Jared and Ryan the last two days on Sugar. The wind was a little tough on us, but we did manage. I was happy about all the actions as we boated about 200 fish in two days, but I was very disappointed in the over all quality per number of fish. An 8 lb 2 oz was our best fish of the trip and we did catch a few over 6 pounds , but most all of our fish were just fish. Catching 100 fish a day, does not make it a good trip when you are paying me to put you on big fish. I fished about 45 different spots in two days , just to try to get off the 1 pounders , but it did not matter where and how deep we went , the little bastards are everywhere. Like I said we fished about 45 spots and we caught fish on every single ones of them. from 3 foot to 22 foot deep. I did catch some nice fish on a crank bait and they did not really want to throw one. I guide here on Falcon tomorrow and then back to Sugar come Thurs and Friday.

I have had several emails from clients about me not guiding anymore. I do not know where the hell this rumor has started, but it is not at all the truth. I as most of you know had to take the estate over here in Abilene when my mother passed away in Aug. Yes it has taken a lot of my time off the water to say the least, but I still have managed to guide most every month on Falcon and Sugar. I have got about 90 % of the work complete. I have decided to take the month of April off from guiding so that I can finally complete the last 10 % of the work that has to be done. This will open me up to the upcoming May thru Sept to be on Falcon and Sugar for the best of the best time of year. For the ones that know me , I love to guide year around , but May thru Sept is my favorite and the fish are so much more settled into a predictable pattern. To make it up to the ones that I had to put off this last year , due to my schedule. I am going to offer a deal , that you need to jump on. This is for Sugar ONLY . I will do trips for the month of May for $2000 for three days and they will be room and meals included, for two people. My plan is to book every day in May as this is a great month to be on Sugar. With the monster fish showing up already this year . It will be the best you have seen yet on Sugar. Get your dates in the books . I know I am ready are you.

We were going to fish a half day today, but I blew a lower unit in my boat the morning of our second day and the weather is a little rough today, anyway. Our hands needed to take a break anyway, as Charlie and I put 278 fish in the boat on the three day trip. We had a 10 lb 10 oz for our biggest , but damn did we catch some quality fish on this trip even without my boat for two days. Thanks to Ray and Tim for the use of their boat to get me by this trip. Let me tell you , find a lake that you can catch the fish in numbers and quality in the world , because I want to go. I personally do not believe there is a lake in the county that can stand up to Sugar Lake. If you want to go let me know. Just to let everyone know I have been working to get several trip options on Sugar lake , as Sugar is the best lake in the country to get that fish of a lifetime . I have not had a trip this year that just was not just a great trip and most everyone has caught a DD or had a chance to. I have an all exclusive package for the ones that want to fly in and bring nothing and I still offer my regular trip at $600 per day. I now have the guides to handle up to 10 people at a time. Sugar is a blast and it is a great place to bring a group and have a good time and catch a butt load of big fish. Contact me for the details and book your trip. I promise it will be the best fishing trip that you been on. The all inclusive trips are 3 day min and this package will be 3 full days of fishing with 4 night stay 2 in Zapata and 2 at Sugar Inn. All meals included , all tackle furnished , Pick up and Return to Laredo airport, and beverage. Bring your cloths and personal items and we will take care of the rest. we can handle 2 or up to 10 people. All prices are based on two per room and boat. Call or email or text me for all the details. If you do not want all inclusive the $600 per day trips are there as well for two. 2 person = $600 , 4 person=$1200 , 6 person=$1800, etc and we will still furnish equipment at no charge. Rooms , Food , Drinks and baits are on you.

Just got back from Sugar lake . I had Ron and Jackson and we had a heck of a good trip. Ron is a regular and has fished both Falcon and Sugar with me for years. He brought Jackson with him this time to experience Sugar for the first time . Jackson booked two more days with me in May before the first day was over, if that will tell you what he thinks about Sugar. We started or two day trip on Sunday with the Mexican tournament going on. there was about 60 boats on the water Sunday. I knowing that , went to an area that I knew would not have many if any boats in it. We stayed in that area all day and only seen three boats. As you probably noticed I did not post any pictures. did we catch some quality fish yes we did . We boated 81 fish in two days and our biggest in the boat was an 8 lb 7 oz and I landed it. We caught a lot of fish in the 5 to 6 pound range and even had a few that pushed 7 pounds . But really that to us was discussed and were not picture worthy.  Jackson book more days to come to Sugar because of what he seen and had on the first day . He got abused , that is the best word I can describe. I was laughing at the looks on his face and I got paid back as I loses a 9 or 10 trying to swing her in the boat and break and freek of nature off . It became just as fun as it gets. We caught all our fish in the trees and when you fish the trees , there is no hook or line that is big enough for these monster fish. I fish here on Falcon tomorrow and then back to Sugar Wed thru Sat. See you then

20160229_112112_resized 20160229_112116_resizedWell I finally got the weather and the time to get on one of my favorite lakes up here around the Abilene area. Hubbard Creek , is just a little Falcon to me. Hubbard has just a ton of flooded brush , just like Falcon does right now. The difference the water is just still to cool for the bass to be in it. I spent about 5 hours covering the whole lake . I did not catch any thing to be proud of yesterday, but I did structure scan , most all the areas that will be good this late spring and summer. I have fished Hubbard 1000’s of time but I have not been on here in about 12 years and back then I did not have the electronics I have now and I damn sure did not know what I do now about them. Hubbard has some of the best looking structure in it and I can not wait till she warms up a little more . Water temp was still 53 to 58 in most places. Another thing that I am excited about is that I am going to the Bass Masters Classic this year. I will be up there Friday , Sat, and Sunday. I have never been to a Classic and I have always been to busy guiding this time of year to go. I guess this Estate I have taken over , has at least allowed me the time this year to go. I will head back home to Falcon after the classic as I have a full slate of trips starting Mar 10. I am booked the 10th thru the 20th , but I have decided to open up the 21st thru the 24 if you are interested on Sugar or Falcon. My last trip to Sugar on Feb 21st was epic, to say the least and Sugar is just getting started this year. I can not forget Falcon , as I had really good trips on her as well in Feb. This is the time of year that I look forward to when it comes to fishing Falcon and Sugar. I want the spawn over with and the fish to settle in on a [pattern. This will happen very soon. Another reminder about the Peacock Trips I have for this coming Jan and Feb. They will fill fast . Please If you think you want to go, at least get on my list. I want you to go on this trip of a lifetime. My first elite group is already full and I am working on trip two. I know it seems early, but this year the boat bookings are going fast and we had to lock in or take a chance of not getting the boats we wanted. We have the best secured , so now is the time to make plans. On another note. I have several groups coming to Sugar , Starting in May and I have to have help . I will be bringing two more guides online , to help with that and to take my clients to Sugar when I have to be up here in Abilene . I promise you both of these guys will work their tails off to make sure you catch quality fish .
